10-07-09: 02:40 pm Now we have about 165 sailors measuret and registrated. The weather today is not as good as yesterday, but there are nice wind. Tonight we have the opening ceremoni at the town hall at 06:00 pm.

08-07-09: 04:30 pm There are about 80 boys and 100 girls signed in for Laser Radial Senior European Championship. 100 have now been registrated.

08-07-09: 11:08 am The European Championship in Laser Radial Senior have started - today and tomorrow there will be registration and measurement.

08-07-09: 09:46pm The 2009 European Youth Laser Radial Championships is over. Results have been published for Girls overall and the boys Gold, Silver and Bronze fleet. See under Results. Results under and over 17 age will be published as soon as possible.

07-07-09: 08:34pm The three boys fleet has finished their races for today (1 race in total). The girls are still racing but they are expected to finish within 30 minutes. The last start for the girls again call for massive false starts. Approximately 13 girls received a black flag penelty before the principal race officer had the fleet well underway. 

Shifting winds, thunder and a lot of protest over the results from yesterday delayed take off from the harbour in the morning. Not before 5.00 pm the first dinghy had left the harbour. Its getting late before we can finish this race day - but still the sun is shining over Charlottenlund.

07-07-09 09:34am Steady wind over the race area - all fleets expected to leave the harbour within 45 minutes.

06-07-09 19:31 By the end of day 4 of the 2009 European Youth Championship 47 sailors had been given a black flag penelty. The first race were for the yellow green, blue and red fleet not competing in there 3. race yesterday.  However, after the first two races, the principal race officer decided to use the black flag due to massive false start. By the end of the day this meant that not less than 47 sailors had a black flag penelty.

Race 4 and 5 were sailed afterwards for all fleets. At the moment we are waiting for the final results to be published.

06-07-09 10:06: All sailors has left the harbour - 1. start for Blue, Red and Green fleet anticipated to start at 10:30 am. For the moment light but steady wind over the race area.

To paraphrase a famous, fictional Dane: 

 "To sail, or not to sail.  That is the question."

For a second straight day the wind gods have ignored the 2009 Laser Radial Youth European Championships.  The regatta for 195 boys from 33 countries, and 75 girls from 26 countries, is being held just up the coast from Copenhagen, Denmark.  Today, the RC managed to start one of the three boys’ flights, but went AP (postponement) for the other two flights and the girls’ race, when the wind made a huge shift to the right.  The boys’ gold division race was completed in the light shifty winds.  Winning the race was Nicholas Small (NOR).  Second through fifth went to Tom Pelsmaekers (BEL), Shahar Jacob (ISR), Dylan Finneran (USA), and  Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy (MAS).

After another 45 minutes of waiting for the breeze to settle, the Race Committee sent everybody in when thunderstorms were reported across the sound in Sweden.  The wind spent the afternoon shifting between southwest and north, never building to much over 1.5 meters per second (3 knots), so another 3 1/2 hours of waiting on shore took before the RC sent the kids home.

Tomorrow's forecast calls for four to six knots in the morning building to eight to twelve in the afternoon.

05-07-09 - 19:24 - first start tomorrow (6th of july) will be at 10:30 for blue, then red and then green fleet. There will be 3 races for those fleets and 2 races for yellow fleet.

05-07-09 - 17:35 - There will be no more races today, we have nearly no wind. So only yellow fleet have had one race.

05-07-09 - 16:26 - but some sailors are having fun and some are just waiting.

04-07-09 - 17:06 - We have had no wind today, so there will be no race. But the sailors have had a lot of fun around the habour all day. We are still working on some changes on the preliminary resultslist for the boys after the two races yesterday. But we will return.
